The Composition of the Technique Formative Exercise
The Element
Is the simplest component, unit, the product of an impulse. If a movement sequence starts with three steps, the first step constitutes an element.
The Cell
Is a simple unit and consists in the repetition of an Element.
The three repeated steps from the sequence mentioned before, establishes a cell.
The Motif
Is the smallest unit with a sense.
It’s important to highlight, that this doesn’t mean a movement motif should be charged with an emotional content. It could also be created from a formal point of few.
Rhythm, Space, Coordination, Emotional, Formal
A movement motif carries the potential within to be developed or simplified.
The Movement Sequence
Is part of something round and completed as a movement phrase. Contains Elements, Cells, and Motifs.
Movement Phrase
Has a beginning and end. A movement phrase is something terminated. Consists of several recognizable movement sequences.
