Principle of Integration
The onlooker perceives the body movement in its totality.
A body movement is a synthesis formed out of different movement aspect. The perception of the temporal, spatial, tensional as well as the flow of movement occurs simultaneously. The unique composition of the movement factors culminates towards the intended body expression.
The principle of integration states, that from something already created, a movement element, a motif, one can define the movement when Repeated and perceived as
- Identical
- Similar
- Contrast
In relation to the already perceived body Action
The transformation of the movement element or motif can be reviewed from a proper formal point of view or
from a compositional point of view, means from an external source as the onlooker.
In relation to this perception,
one can determine:
-In order To perform an Identical Movement motif in relation to the Original Action, one utilizes the recourse Repetition
-In order To perform a Similar movement motif in relation to the Original Action, one utilizes the recourse Variation
-To perform a complete Opposite movement motif in relation to the Original Action, one utilizes the recourse Contrast
Identical-Repetition
Similar-Variation
Opposite-Contrast
Definition of Repetition
Signifies the original and authentic repetition of an already existing Body movement.
Contains the exact reproduction of all visible and perceivable movement aspects, executed from the body, particular and distinctive in space, time, energy and flow.
From the perception of an onlooker:
One should identify the reproduced movement as identical in relation to the already perceived original action.
From the perception of a listener, as in Music:
One should identify and recognize the reproduced, sound or music motif as equal and identical in relation to the already listened original musical form.
The repetition may relate to a particular part, a Detaille of the whole movement, which we call Partial Repetition
Or the Repetition is related towards the complete movement action, which we call Entire Repetition
Definition of Variation
Signifies a not completely, identical but similar repetition of the original already existing body action.
Contains the similar reproduction of the original movement action, with some differences within the movement aspects.
Variation Types
1) Modification of the Movement Factors
Signifies the modification of one or several movement factors of an already established body action without changing the movement in itself.
The variation is executed by changing the:
Time aspect
-Changing the quality of time, more indulging or more urgent, slow or faster
-Changing the duration of the movement
-Accelerating/Deaccelerating
- Executing the movement in a different Compass
- Changing the Basic Rhythm
Impulse/Impact/Transitional/Continue
etc.
Space Aspect
-Changing the direction of the body gesture
-Changing the level of the movement
-Changing the pathway
-Changing the plane
-Changing the shape
etc.
Weight/Energy Aspect
-Changing the quality of the Energy
-Changing the body weight relation towards Gravity
etc.
Flow Aspect
-Changing tension flow quality, more controlled or freer
-Changing internal/external Flow
-Changing simultaneous/successive Body Flow
-Changing from continuous to dis-continuous movement flow or vice versa.
2) Modification of the Basic Actions
Signifies, to add or to reduce one or more basic action of an already existing body movement.
The Variation is executed by the change of:
-Reducing or adding the Basic Action Rotation within an already existing Movement
-Reducing or adding the basic Action Flexion within an already existing movement
-Reducing or adding the Basic Action Extension within an already existing Movement
Definition of Contrast
Signifies, the onlooker can’t recognise or find any similarity within the perceived movement action. The body movement is defined as new.
The contrast is established by various changes within the already seen and perceived movement,
Changes of the body actions Rotation/Flexion/Extension
or/and movement aspects as Flow/Time/Space/Energy.
Definition Movement Development
Signifies, the development of the potential within the movement action.
The movement potential is highly related to the Tendencies of the Body Planes.
That means, the development and natural harmonical tendencies of the body movement in space.
Each body Plan favours certain actions.
Frontal Plan
Dimensions: High and Width
Directions: Up/Down/Left/Right
Tendencies of Body Actions:
Jumping, Falling, Rising, Sinking
Horizontal Plain
Dimension: Profound and Width
Directions: Front/Back/Left/Right
Tendencies of Body Action: Rotation, Turning
Sagittal Plain
Dimensions: High and Profound
Directions: Front/Back/Up/Down
Tendencies of body Actions: Displacement, Walking, Running
